What Makes a Successful Reporter
I think it's most important for a reporter to be curious. A curious reporter is able to ask the tough questions and uncover deeper stories. A natural curiosity allows a reporter to want to get the entire story. This is most important because as a reporter you should want to know EVERYTHING. A reporter should have an approximate knowledge of many subjects. This is because as a reporter you could be asked to do a story on just about anything, especially if you are a general assignment reporter. Without some type of background knowledge on the subject you are reporting on you're doing the story and the subject a disservice. A curious reporter is an informed reporter. A good reporter should also want to continue to learn throughout their career. The will to learn should never die for a good reporter. This is why I would like to be a journalist. I see it as an opportunity to learn about different types of people and places everyday. I find myself to be naturally curious and having the opportunity to learn from others is intriguing to me which is why I want to be a journalist.
